For those who were interested I've finally gotten a new catalog
from W. Fagan & Co. Antiques. This is catalog #49 and contains an
excellent selection of pre-18th century items. Naturally these
items are pretty high priced. Some of the more choice items include
a German bastard sword (ca. 1500, $3450.00), a German swept hilt
rapier (ca. 1570, $3100.00) and a German halberd (ca. 1560, $1650.00).
The catalog includes a large number of swords and daggers from the
18th and 19th centuries at somewhat more affordable prices (anywhere
$100 up). There are also some items of armor and a few pre-Columbian
and Mediterranean antiquities.
I've purchased items from Fagan's in the past. You can rely on the
quality of the item ordered to be as described in the catalog. Their
accounting leaves something to be desired. I've missed an item I
particularly wanted because some clerk misfiled my order and check.
Its best to call and order using a credit card number to avoid delays
and to avoid the possibility that the item you want might be sold.
I've never run into any problems when using this method to order.
Fagan's issues seven catalogs per year (some are special auction or
special sell catalogs) for a subscription price of $10.00 (US currency).
The address and phone number information are given below.

I saw someone list what appeared to be a museum wholesaler recently
($3000+ for a sword). Well, in case you happen NOT to be independantly
wealthy, but would like to get your hands on a rapier, broadsword, great
helm, shield, long bow, etc etc etc, read on:
Museum Replicas is a company based out of Conyers, GA. They sell weapons
that are fashioned after historical piece, along with armor, costumes,
jewelry, and paraphanalia (unicorn goblets, dragon letter openers, etc).
For example: A swept-hilt rapier costs about $260.00. A flanged gothic
mace costs $195.00. A two handed claymore costs $395.00.
Still not cheap, but better than $3000.
All the weapons are battle-worthy, and are sent WITHOUT an edge (a great
deal of theatre professionals use these weapons for stage combat). They
are NOT realisticly weighted. But they are all historically correct in
terms of design and style.
They send out about 5 catalogues each year, and it costs nothing to get
on the mailing list.
